Ducks Open Season with Shutout Win!
ColumbusDucks.com Staff Writer - September 4, 2008

The new look Ducks took to the ice Thursday Night with a determined
step and a mission to start this season off right. Coming off a
disappointing 9th place finish, one place shy of the playoffs, the
Ducks looked forward with an eye to the future. The team went
through an up and down off-season, but all the turmoil and
uncertainty showed to be no reason to worry for the Ducks as they
kicked off the fall 2008 season with a resounding shut-out victory.

Mike Letvia stopped all that Battelle could throw at him in net,
earning a shut-out in his Ducks debut. Including a scare in the
second, and late third periods that proved to be not enough to beat
him. Even when players from Battelle stormed the crease and
knocked him down he couldn't be phased.

Promising Ducks rookie, Jason Goodman, set up two scoring plays.
Teaming up with David Leff early in the 2nd and then later with
another Ducks rookie Frank Madore in the third. The goal from
Leff proved to be all the Ducks needed to top Battelle, although
Madore threw in a crisp snap shot from the slot besting the
Battelle goalie. Tim Miller added a third Ducks goal with a
minute to play sealing the victory.

Continued stand-out play from Ducks play-maker Bill Ross, and solid
defense from Jim Poulios and Brandon Wilkins were exactly what the
Ducks fans expected and what the Ducks needed to get this season
started off on the right foot. Look forward for more of the same
from these Ducks, according to Bill Ross "This is a new Ducks team
with a new focus. We have a shot this year at doing something good.
I am excited."

Come Check out the Ducks next week out at Dublin against the
Rink Rats, game time is 10:40 pm.
